Mr. Thisath Wijayagunawarane

Mr. Wijayagunawardane is a distinguished President’s Counsel, boasting an impressive career spanning over three decades. His academic prowess is underscored by a Master of Laws degree from the esteemed University of Reading in the United Kingdom.

He has cultivated an extensive and thriving practice, representing clients in the Supreme Court, various Appellate Courts, the Commercial High Court, and the District Court. His expertise encompasses a wide spectrum, including Commercial Law, Construction Law, Civil Law, Administrative Law, and Human Rights.

Throughout his illustrious career, Mr. Wijayagunawardane has left an indelible mark, handling numerous intricate and landmark cases with resounding success. His proficiency extends beyond Sri Lankan law, encompassing International Laws. He is a seasoned practitioner in international jurisdictions at the highest echelons, in addition to his work in Sri Lanka. Furthermore, he possesses substantial expertise in Commercial Arbitration.

In recognition of his wealth of experience and legal acumen, he received the prestigious appointment as a Commissioner of the Law Commission of Sri Lanka by His Excellency the President of Sri Lanka. Mr. Wijayagunawardane has also contributed to legal education and development, having served as a member of the Incorporated Council of Legal Education and the Council of the University of Sri Jayawardenapura. His dedication to public service is evidenced by his role as a Commissioner of the Legal Aid Commission of Sri Lanka.

In addition to his legal commitments, Mr. Wijayagunawardane serves as a Non-Executive Director on the boards of several prominent Private and Public Companies.
